Core Roles & Responsibilities 1. Daily Site Supervision & Quality Control Execution as per Drawings: Supervise daily construction activities (RCC framing, brickwork, plastering, waterproofing, tiling) to ensure work aligns precisely with architectural and structural working drawings. Quality Assurance: Check reinforcement layouts (bar bending schedules), shuttering alignment, concrete pouring, and curing periods. Ensure the right mix ratios and slump tests are conducted. Finishing Work Oversight: For high-rises, managing the finishing stage is critical. You will oversee POP/gypsum plastering, flooring alignment, door/window installations, and external painting. 2. Labor & Contractor Management Workforce Allocation: Allocate daily tasks to sub-contractors and daily-wage laborers based on the weekly schedule. Productivity Tracking: Monitor labor output to ensure milestones (e.g., casting one slab every 1012 days) are met without compromising quality. Conflict Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for resolving minor technical or interpersonal issues on the labor front. 3. Material Management & Reconciliation Indenting & Inventory: Prepare daily/weekly material requirements (cement, steel, sand, aggregate, bricks) and raise indents to the store department well in advance to avoid work stoppage. Wastage Control: Monitor material consumption on-site and implement strict measures to minimize wastage of premium materials like tiles, marbles, and steel. Reconciliation: Assist the senior engineer in monthly material reconciliation reports (comparing estimated vs. actual consumption). 4. Progress Reporting & Documentation Daily Progress Reports (DPR): Maintain and update the DPR, noting down labor strength, work completed, material received, and any hindrances (like weather or machinery breakdown). Measurement Book (MB): Take accurate site measurements of work done by sub-contractors for verification and billing purposes. Site Logbooks: Maintain logs for concrete pouring, cube casting, testing dates, and de-shuttering times. 5. Safety & Environment Compliance HSE Implementation: Ensure all labor and staff strictly adhere to safety protocols—wearing helmets, safety harness belts (especially for high-rise scaffolding and external plastering), and safety shoes. Housekeeping: Maintain clean and hazard-free work zones on the designated floors. Ahmedabad-Specific Context & Local Skills Working in the Ahmedabad real estate market requires familiarity with local norms: RERA Compliance: Basic understanding of Gujarat RERA regulations regarding quality timelines and structural defects to ensure work meets compliance standards. Local Language: Ability to communicate effectively in Gujarati and Hindi to manage local labor, contractors, and material suppliers smoothly. Material Awareness: Familiarity with locally sourced materials (e.g., Morbi tiles, local fly-ash bricks, regional cement brands) and testing standards common to the Gujarat region. High-Rise Safety: Understanding of local fire safety norms and high-rise construction challenges unique to Ahmedabad’s expanding skyline. Required Technical & Soft Skills Technical: Ability to read complex structural drawings, AutoCAD (basic viewing/checking), and proficient use of MS Excel for reporting. Equipment Knowledge: Experience with high-rise equipment like tower cranes, passenger hoists, concrete pumps (boom placers), and advanced shuttering systems (like Mivan or cuplock). Soft Skills: Strong communication, time management, stamina for long site hours, and a problem-solving mindset.
