JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, serves as technical consultant to users of information technology hardware/software by providing training and problem solving consultation. This position is a vital link in the development and support of information technology in multi-office environment with Clemson University Learning Institute. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of IT.

JOB DUTIES: 40% - Hardware/Software: Performs hardware and software upgrades and installs new and enhanced products. Maintains inventory of hardware/software. Evaluates information technology needs and makes recommendations to the Director of IT. Maintains documents and backup in accordance with state guidelines. Answers user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems. Reads technical manuals, confers with users, or conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support. Refers major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors.

30% - Evaluates: Evaluates utilization of information technology. Provides consultation to users to develop procedures for improved efficiency. Makes decisions and solves problems. Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Updates and uses relevant knowledge - keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge for our equipment to our facilities.

15% - Design/Testing: Tests and maintains computer systems to improve the work flow of its users to provide the most efficient system. Recommends improvements to the Director of IT.

5% - Other Duties: Participates in team meetings, and IT meetings on a quarterly basis.

10% - Development: Coordinates the planning and development of voice and data networks and data process systems with the supervisor. Provides training and support for voice and data systems to users.

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. An Associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.

Expected Salary for this position is $48,000

Compensation Information

Expected Salary Range $45,300.00 - $61,100.00 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL: Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
