Database Senior Tester

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Database Testing Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, performance, security, and scalability of our data architecture. You will design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for complex database systems, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in writing advanced SQL, validating data migrations, and automating data testing workflows. Key Responsibilities: Test Strategy & Planning: Define and implement robust database testing strategies, test plans, and test cases based on business requirements and technical specifications. Data Validation & ETL Testing: Verify data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across source-to-target mappings, complex data pipelines, and ETL processes. Advanced Querying: Write and execute complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to validate back-end data and business logic. Performance & Scalability Testing: Conduct database performance tuning tests, load testing, and stress testing to identify bottlenecks, deadlocks, and latency issues. Test Automation: Build, maintain, and scale data validation frameworks using automation tools or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or specialized data QA tools) to drive continuous integration. Migration & Schema Verification: Validate database schema changes, index optimizations, and complex data migration processes without downtime or data loss. Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner closely with Database Administrators (DBAs), Data Engineers, and Software Developers to isolate and resolve defects. Mentor junior QA engineers on database testing best practices. Required Qualifications: Experience: 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with a heavy focus on Database Testing, ETL Testing, or Data Warehouse Testing. SQL Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in writing complex SQL queries (including advanced joins, subqueries, analytical functions, and stored procedures). Database Platforms: Strong hands-on experience with relational databases (RDBMS) like [Insert e.g., PostgreSQL / Oracle / SQL Server] and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). ETL Knowledge: Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and hands-on experience testing ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DBT, or AWS Glue). Automation Skills: Experience scripting automation for data validation using Python, Shell scripting, or QA automation frameworks. Tools: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab) and test management tools (Jira, Zephyr). Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have): Experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Hive) or Cloud Data Warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery). Knowledge of database security principles and data masking/anonymization techniques. Experience operating in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
