Staff Application Engineer

You will be joining a high-caliber software engineering team that is rapidly growing and focusing on building impactful healthcare technology on a modern technology stack, particularly the core data and AI platforms. As a Staff Engineer on the Application Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, scalable software systems that power Cohere Healths core platform. You will serve as a technical leader, mentoring engineers and collaborating with various teams to ensure solutions meet compliance, quality, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities: - Define and drive the architecture of large-scale, distributed application systems across the Cohere platform - Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in modern frameworks such as Python, TypeScript/React, and Java/Kotlin - Embed automated testing, monitoring, and release safeguards into the development lifecycle - Mentor engineers on technical design, code quality, and system thinking - Collaborate with Product, Clinical, and Operations teams to ensure solutions meet real-world healthcare needs Qualifications Required: - 13+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4+ years in a staff/principal/lead role - Expertise in designing and scaling distributed, cloud-native applications - Strong background in modern languages like Python, Java, TypeScript/React - Experience in healthcare technology or other regulated environments is preferred - Demonstrated success in mentoring and growing engineering talent - Hands-on experience in payment integrity or healthcare payment validation systems The company, Cohere Health, delivers AI-powered solutions through its clinical intelligence platform to streamline access to quality care, improve payer-provider collaboration, and enhance healthcare economics.
