Sr. Principal Photonics engineer

Job Summary: Coherent is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer in the CTO Office to help define, evaluate, and incubate advanced photonics technology directions for optical I/O, high-performance compute, and communications infrastructure. This role combines deep technical judgment with roadmap contribution, technology scouting, project leadership, and early feasibility definition. The position will work with CTO Office technical leadership, internal engineering teams, business groups, and external partners to turn emerging technology options into practical opportunities for Coherent. The role is intended for a technical leader who can stay close to physics, device behavior, integration trade-offs, and system-level implications, while bridging theoretical insight with practical implementation to help define and advance longer-term technology priorities. The position is Europe-based and hybrid, with European ecosystem coverage and global relevance for Coherent.
