About the role
About the internship: We are looking for a high-ownership intern to help us improve two critical areas of the product AI Genie experience and iOS and Android app readiness. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy internship. The goal is not research or exploration. The goal is to ship. Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include: A. AI Genie flows- You will help build and improve AI-powered trip planning experiences such as: 1. Generating itineraries from destination, dates, group size, and preferences. 2. Refining itineraries based on group feedback. 3. Summarizing group planning conversations into action items. 4. Suggesting itinerary modifications from AI summaries. 5. Generating destination-specific checklists. 6. Converting trip ideas into structured itinerary cards. Example AI use cases: AI Genie joins a group planning call and summarizes decisions. AI turns a group discussion into itinerary action items. AI suggests changes to an itinerary based on budget or travel time. AI creates a packing checklist for a specific destination. B. Mobile app production readiness- You will help make the current app more stable and ready for iOS and Android testing: 1. Cleaning up the existing vibe-coded or Lovable-style codebase. 2. Improving folder structure, components, and naming. 3. Fixing mobile UI issues. 4. Making core flows work reliably on mobile. 5. Setting up or improving iOS and Android builds. 6. Fixing Xcode/Android Studio/Capacitor build issues. 7. Adding app icon, splash screen, deep links, or native share flow. 8. Improving loading, error, and empty states. 9. Preparing the app for TestFlight/Android internal testing. 2-month internship goals- By the end of 2 months, you should help ship: A. Must-have outcomes: 1. One working AI Genie feature. 2. Example: itinerary generation, group-call summary, checklist generation, or itinerary refinement. 3. A cleaner and more stable mobile app build. 4. App should run reliably on mobile and be easier for future developers to work on. 5. iOS or Android testing readiness. 6. At least one platform should be ready for TestFlight or Android internal testing. B. Good-to-have outcomes: 1. AI prompt/evaluation framework. 2. Instagram/reel/post idea extraction prototype. 3. Push notification or native share flow. 4. Flight status UI for paid plans. 5. Improved trip workspace UX. 6. Basic documentation for future engineers. Ideal candidate- You may be a good fit if you: 1. Know JavaScript/TypeScript and React. 2. Have experience with mobile-first web apps, React Native, Capacitor, Ionic, or Expo. 3. Are comfortable debugging messy prototype code. 4. Have basic experience with LLM APIs or prompt engineering. 5. Can work independently and move fast. 6. Care about product quality and user experience. 7. Can convert vague product ideas into working features. B. Good to have- Helpful but not mandatory: 1. Experience with OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or other LLM APIs. 2. Experience with Vite, React, TypeScript, or Capacitor. 3. Experience with Xcode or Android Studio. 4. Experience preparing apps for TestFlight or Play Console. 5. Familiarity with mobile app icons, splash screens, notifications, and deep links. 6. Interest in travel, consumer apps, or AI products. At the core of the platform is AI Genie, a travel-aware assistant designed to transform conversations, travel inspiration, and group preferences into organized, actionable travel plans. Additional information: A. What you’ll learn- You will get hands-on experience in: 1. Building AI product experiences. 2. Working with LLM prompts and structured outputs. 3. Turning prototype code into production-ready code. 4. Mobile app development for iOS and Android. 5. Consumer product thinking. 6. Startup execution. B. What success looks like- Success means that after 2 months: 1. CollabTrip has at least one polished AI Genie feature. 2. The app is more stable and maintainable. 3. One mobile build path is working reliably. 4. Core mobile flows feel cleaner. 5. Future developers can understand and build on the codebase. C. Why join: 1. This is an early-stage, high-ownership role. You will work on real product features that directly affect the direction of CollabTrip. 2. You will not just be assigned small tickets. You will help shape how AI and mobile experiences come together in a consumer travel product.
