About the role
As a Senior Engineer Distributed File Systems & Linux Platform at Commvault, you will play a crucial role in designing and optimizing large-scale distributed storage/file systems on Linux platforms. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing scalable and fault-tolerant distributed file systems such as object/block/file storage - Defining system architecture to ensure high availability, consistency, and performance - Driving design decisions across storage, networking, and compute layers - Delving deep into Linux kernel, filesystem internals, and I/O stack - Optimizing performance across various layers including VFS layer, page cache, block layer, and networking stack - Designing and implementing replication, erasure coding, consensus protocols, and metadata management systems - Analyzing and enhancing system performance, conducting benchmarking, and capacity planning - Building fault detection, recovery, and self-healing systems - Implementing observability through metrics, tracing, logging, and root cause analysis of production issues Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelor's degree - 3+ years of experience in systems engineering - Strong expertise in Linux kernel internals, filesystems, and distributed storage systems - Deep understanding of memory management, concurrency, synchronization, and networking protocols - Proficiency in debugging tools and methodologies - Strong problem-solving skills - Ability to lead without authority - Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams - Previous experience in defining storage architecture and driving performance improvements at the infrastructure level - Security and SaaS experience is strongly preferred At Commvault, you can enjoy various benefits such as an employee stock purchase plan, continuous professional development, health check-ups, car lease program, tuition reimbursement, an inclusive company culture, personal accident cover, and term life cover.
