POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. You will shape the design and architecture of our products and work closely with the founding team, who built and scaled products at Revolut, Square, and SumUp, to deliver 10x value to our clients.

As an early-stage startup, we pride ourselves on our ability to roll up our sleeves and build from scratch. You will ship code frequently, iterate quickly based on feedback, and still meet the stringent security, performance, and uptime requirements our clients expect.

What You'll DO

• Deliver customer-facing APIs and developer-friendly documentation that make our product a seamless, self-service experience - you will own how developers discover, integrate, and succeed with what we build

• Ship frequently and iterate based on how the product performs in production and the feedback that comes back from customers.

• Design and own the core of our products end-to-end, from architecture to implementation.

• Build a robust, secure, and resilient data ingestion layer that powers what customers can do with our product

• Develop a performant scraping and parsing layer to reliably capture and structure the data our product depends on

• Shape our engineering culture and standards for quality, ownership, and collaboration as we grow

• Continuously improve our practices to make the team faster at shipping product

• WHAT YOU BRING

• A product engineering mindset: you care about what you are building and why, you talk to stakeholders and users to understand the real problem, and you ship the thing that solves it rather than the most technically interesting version

• Strong experience designing customer-facing REST APIs that are clean, versioned, and genuinely pleasant for developers to integrate against

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with a track record of owning systems end-to-end in production

• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems: asynchronous processing, queues and pub/sub, idempotency, retries, eventual consistency, and designing for failure

• 3+ years of Python (or a similar language, with the willingness to work primarily in Python)

• Strong relational database modelling skills (PostgreSQL or MySQL), including indexing, query performance, and schema evolution under load

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fast-moving environment

• Comfort working in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and shipping reliably with CI/CD - without needing to be the team's dedicated platform engineer

• It would be a plus if you have:

• Experience writing web scrapers at scale

• Experience in regulated/security-sensitive domains (KYC/AML, fintech, fraud, compliance)

• Experience with stream processing or high-throughput pipelines (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Flink)

• Experience with low-level languages like Rust, Go, or C++ for performance-critical components
