Lead Product Engineer

Role Overview: As a Lead Product Engineer at consumr.ai, you will play a crucial role in guiding a small, skilled product development team while remaining actively involved in architecture, coding standards, technical problem-solving, cloud infrastructure, security, deployment practices, and engineering execution. Your responsibilities will include leading day-to-day product engineering execution, making sound technical decisions, resolving complex blockers, improving development practices, and ensuring the secure and reliable scaling of the platform. You will balance speed with quality, staying current with new tools, frameworks, AI development practices, cloud patterns, and product engineering methods. Your role will involve providing clear updates, documenting decisions, explaining technical trade-offs, identifying risks, and ensuring that the engineering team remains aligned, visible, and accountable. Key Responsibilities: - Lead day-to-day engineering execution for the product development team - Translate product priorities and business requirements into clear engineering plans - Guide developers on architecture, implementation, technical trade-offs, and delivery priorities - Ensure that engineering work aligns with product goals, user experience, scalability, and system reliability - Act as the senior technical bridge between the Chief Solutions Officer and the engineering team - Bring structure and accountability to engineering delivery without creating unnecessary bureaucracy - Remain actively involved in coding and product development, including code reviews, debugging, and technical problem-solving - Support developers when they are blocked on implementation, integrations, performance, infrastructure, or deployment - Contribute directly to development for complex, high-impact, or business-critical modules - Improve code quality, maintainability, documentation, and engineering standards - Guide the team in using AI-assisted development workflows effectively and responsibly - Evaluate new AI development tools, frameworks, and workflows to improve engineering speed and quality - Own or supervise cloud infrastructure, deployment workflows, serverless architecture, and production environments - Improve CI/CD pipelines, environment management, logging, monitoring, and release practices - Ensure that cloud infrastructure is scalable, secure, cost-conscious, and production-ready - Apply zero trust principles across infrastructure, access control, application security, and deployment practices - Create clear visibility into engineering priorities, progress, blockers, delays, and risks - Provide structured updates to the Chief Solutions Officer and maintain strong documentation around technical decisions Qualification Required: - Strong hands-on experience in product engineering, full-stack engineering, or backend-heavy software engineering - Experience building SaaS platforms, AI-enabled products, data-heavy applications, or complex web applications - Understanding of software architecture, system design, scalability, performance, and maintainability - Practical experience with AI-assisted development workflows, coding agents, rapid prototyping, or modern vibe-coding practices - Experience with cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, production environments, monitoring, logging, and cloud resource management - Knowledge of serverless architecture, APIs, databases, authentication systems, and production-grade backend services - Understanding of application security, access control, secrets management, API security, and zero trust architecture principles - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field - 8 to 14 years of overall software engineering experience - At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior engineering, lead engineer, technical lead, principal engineer, engineering lead, or equivalent hands-on leadership role Role Overview: As a Lead Product Engineer at consumr.ai, you will play a crucial role in guiding a small, skilled product development team while remaining actively involved in architecture, coding standards, technical problem-solving, cloud infrastructure, security, deployment practices, and engineering execution.
