About the role
Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering or B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering OSHA Trenching & Excavation Safety Certificate Role & responsibilities Plan, implement, and monitor safe excavation activities in accordance with project specifications and statutory requirements. Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA/JSA) before the commencement of excavation work. Review and approve Excavation Permit to Work (PTW) and ensure all safety requirements are met. Assess soil conditions and recommend appropriate excavation support systems such as shoring, shielding, benching, sheet piling, or bracing. Ensure excavation slopes, trench stability, and protective systems comply with applicable safety standards. Verify underground utility surveys and ensure identification of buried electrical cables, pipelines, and communication lines before excavation. Monitor safe operation of excavators, cranes, dumpers, and other heavy equipment used during excavation activities. Ensure proper barricading, warning signage, safe access/egress, and exclusion zones around excavation areas. Monitor groundwater control and dewatering systems to maintain excavation stability. Inspect excavations daily and after rain, blasting, or any event that may affect ground stability. Coordinate with engineering, geotechnical, and construction teams to ensure safe execution of excavation work.
