Collaboration L3 Engineer - Job Description

Role Overview

The Collaboration L3 Engineer will serve as the highest point of escalation for complex voice and video collaboration issues. The role involves designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting Cisco UC environments, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for voice-related escalations.

Lead complex troubleshooting efforts involving CUCM, Unity Connections, CUBE, and SIP trunking.

Perform root cause analysis on persistent UC issues and recommend long-term fixes.

Work with service providers to optimize SIP trunking and resolve interoperability issues.

Design and implement dial plans, call routing policies, and QoS strategies.

Plan and execute UC system upgrades, migrations, and integration projects.

Conduct SIP traces and packet captures for deep-level analysis.

Mentor L1 and L2 engineers, providing guidance on best practices.

Ensure compliance with security policies for UC environments.

Stay up to date with Cisco UC roadmap, patches, and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

7+ years of experience with Cisco Unified Communications solutions.

Expert-level knowledge of CUCM, Unity Connections, Voice Gateways, and CUBE.

Strong troubleshooting skills in SIP, H.323, MGCP, and QoS-related issues.

Experience in configuring and troubleshooting SIP trunks, PRI, and CUBE SIP normalization.

Advanced skills in Cisco dial plans, route patterns, translations, and call routing logic.

Proficiency in analyzing SIP traces, debugs, and packet captures.

Hands-on experience with HA (high availability) and redundancy configurations.

Cisco CCNP Collaboration certification (preferred); CCIE Collaboration is a plus.
