Data Governance Functional Expert

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Functional Expert to drive enterprise-wide data governance initiatives by defining governance frameworks, KPIs, compliance standards, and data quality metrics. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, Data Engineering teams, and governance committees to ensure effective implementation of governance policies, metadata management, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Translate data governance policies, compliance requirements, retention policies, and data contracts into measurable KPIs. Define governance metrics, business rules, validation criteria, and compliance thresholds. Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to identify data sources and resolve data quality gaps. Maintain governance documentation including KPI definition registers, business glossary, metadata, and governance standards. Support implementation of governance controls across Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers. Facilitate workshops with Governance Committees, Data Owners, Data Stewards, and business stakeholders. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validate governance dashboards against approved KPI definitions. Document governance metrics, data lineage, metadata, and operational procedures. Partner with Engineering and BI teams to improve governance reporting and compliance monitoring. Required Skills 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Regulatory Compliance, or Risk Reporting. Strong experience defining and implementing Data Governance KPIs. Hands-on knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK or equivalent Data Governance frameworks. Experience collaborating with Data Engineering and Business Intelligence teams. Strong understanding of Metadata Management, Business Glossary, Data Lineage, and Data Quality. Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
