About the role
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in owning and driving automation engineering activities across web, mobile, and backend systems. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade automation frameworks primarily using Selenium and secondarily using Playwright. - Building and maintaining end-to-end, integration, and regression test suites for web, backend, and API layers. - Developing automation in Java / JavaScript / TypeScript following industry best practices. - Implementing cross-browser automation, parallel execution, and environment-aware configurations. - Automating APIs and backend services using REST Assured, Postman, or equivalent tools. - Integrating automation suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI). - Managing test data strategies, environment setup, configuration management, and reporting pipelines. - Analyzing failures, debugging root causes, and ensuring reliability. - Maintaining automation metrics such as coverage, pass rate, execution time, and CI health. In addition to the core responsibilities, you will be expected to demonstrate technical leadership by: - Owning automation architecture and framework design. - Defining and enforcing coding standards, test design guidelines, and review practices. - Leading the evaluation and adoption of Selenium and Playwright tools. - Reviewing automation code and mentoring team members. - Collaborating with developers, architects, product managers, and DevOps teams. - Identifying coverage gaps and quality risks. - Presenting automation health and quality reports. The required skills and qualifications for this role include: Selenium (Primary Stack): - Strong hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver. - Experience building frameworks using Page Object Model or similar. - Experience with TestNG / JUnit, parallel execution, Selenium Grid, and cross-browser testing. Playwright (Secondary Stack): - Experience with Playwright Test Runner, fixtures, POM, and parallel execution. - Knowledge of Chromium, Firefox, WebKit testing, network interception, and CI integration. General Automation & Engineering: - 5+ years of experience in automation engineering. - Proficiency in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript. - Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and Agile SDLC. - Experience with CI/CD, Git, and API automation. - Excellent debugging and communication skills. You should also possess leadership qualities such as: - Experience in owning automation frameworks. - Ability to mentor engineers and drive quality standards. - Ownership of sprint planning and delivery. Additionally, it would be nice to have experience in: - Performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, k6. - Working with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP. - Exposure to BDD frameworks like Cucumber and SpecFlow. - Knowledge of security testing practices.
