About the role
As a Principal Electronic Design Engineer at Cubic Transportation Systems, your role involves designing, developing, simulating, and testing hardware products for intelligent travel applications in the transportation industry. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of advanced electronic systems and components. Your extensive experience in electronic design, deep understanding of industry standards, and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams will be crucial in delivering high-quality products that meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Define and architect the overall electronic system architecture, ensuring it meets performance, cost, power, and reliability requirements. - Lead the design, simulation, and analysis of complex analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuits. - Take full technical responsibility for electronic and electrical engineering through design, component selection, prototype, testing, and full documentation stages. - Oversee the management of suppliers from engineering specification through to delivery of parts for evaluation, prototyping, and production. - Assess the validity of various design and manufacturing proposals for maximum cost-effectiveness on the project. - Present technical findings and project updates to senior management, stakeholders, and clients. - Actively participate in design reviews, offer constructive feedback, and share best practices. - Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. - Review and approve technical designs, documentation, and reports to maintain high standards of quality. - Tackle complex technical challenges, driving innovative solutions and making critical design decisions. - Identify opportunities for process improvements in the electronic design workflow and contribute to their implementation. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development and delivery. Qualifications Required: - B.E/B.Tech or M.Tech Degree in Electronics Engineering or similar relevant subject or equivalent supported by extensive relevant design experience. - Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in electronic hardware design and development. - Proven experience in taking multiple complex electronic products from concept through high-volume production. - Expert proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools. - Familiarity with India-based PCB houses, test lab facilities, and experience of working with India-based prototyping suppliers. Personal Qualities: - Strong organizational and project management skills. - Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality. - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including working odd hours in line with customer requirements.
