As an entry level/early career professional in the product-focused position at Cummins Inc., your role involves tailoring electronic and electrical systems for Cummins products. You will be responsible for translating product requirements into hardware and software technical specifications to control the operation of Cummins' products across various customer applications. Your duties also include configuring (tuning) and conducting comprehensive validation testing of fully integrated hardware and software systems. Key Responsibilities: - Investigate electronic application and system problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate actions, own problem resolution, and document results with guidance from experienced team members. - Apply and support the improvement of electronic application and systems development processes and tools, including system specification, modeling, simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. - Obtain input from customers, technical and product teams, manufacturing engineers, supplier partners, and stakeholders to deliver information and recommendations leading to quality product decisions. - Make decisions in electronic and electrical system design, requirements, calibration, and testing that impact the quality and performance of individual calibrated features and components. - Own problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services, with technical complexity and ambiguity increasing with experience. - Contribute effectively towards team goals, exhibit influence within a work group, and continue to develop proficiency in competency areas critical to success. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant STEM field is required. - Post-graduate (Master's) degree in a relevant discipline may be required for select roles. - Experience working in a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area is preferred. - Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred. - Licensing may be required for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. As part of the role, you will participate in a structured cross-Engineering Business Unit (BU) and functional rotation program aimed at providing exposure to diverse engineering domains, tools, and processes. Through real-time projects across multiple teams, you will build technical, analytical, and stakeholder management capabilities. The program intends to develop well-rounded engineering professionals with a comprehensive understanding of organizational workflows and business priorities. Upon successful completion, you will be integrated into a final role aligned with your strengths, performance, and business needs, enabling effective contribution to the function.
