SAP BW ABAP Consultant

Job Title: SAP BW ABAP Consultant Position Overview We are seeking a highly proactive and technically sound SAP BW ABAP Consultant to join our data and analytics team. This role is specifically designed for a professional who bridges the gap between deep BW data modeling and advanced ABAP development. You will be responsible for end-to-end BW modeling, writing custom ABAP code for data extractions, handling critical process chain monitoring, and managing system outages. Important Work Schedule Note: This position requires routine weekend availability to handle scheduled maintenance, monitor critical batch cycles, and manage production outages or emergency fixes. Key Responsibilities ABAP for BW Development: Write, maintain, and optimize complex custom ABAP code within BW objects, including start/end/expert routines, transformations, and customer exits. Extractor Troubleshooting: Perform deep-dive debugging of standard and custom SAP BW extractors (ECC/S4 source systems) to isolate and resolve data load discrepancies. BW Modeling & Reporting: Design, build, and maintain robust BW data models (Advanced DataStore Objects (ADSOs), Composite Providers, InfoObjects, and Open ODS views) and design business-facing queries using BEx Query Designer / BW Eclipse tools. Operations & Monitoring: Actively monitor automated process chains, proactively identify performance bottlenecks, and rapidly fix data load or system errors to meet strict business SLAs. T-Code & Outage Management: Utilize the full spectrum of SAP transaction codes (e.g., RSA1, RSPC, RSMON, SM37, ST22, SM21) to navigate the environment, diagnose issues, and efficiently handle system outages or transport failures. On-Call & Weekend Support: Provide dedicated weekend coverage to support critical data loads, system cutovers, and resolve production infrastructure incidents. Job Requirements Core Technical Capabilities: Advanced SAP ABAP for BW: Strong hands-on experience writing custom ABAP code specifically tailored for BW architectures (Transformations, Enhancements, Field Routines). Debugging Expertise: Exceptional debugging skills across both the BW environment and ERP source systems to troubleshoot complex extraction issues. Full-Cycle BW Modeling: Proven experience with SAP BW 7.5 or BW/4HANA modeling, architecture design, and front-end reporting/query building. Production Operations: Mastery over process chain monitoring, error-handling mechanism optimization, and data reconciliation. SAP Tool Mastery: Deep familiarity with SAP technical infrastructure transaction codes for background jobs, dump analysis, and system logs. Work Schedule & Behavioral Traits: Availability: Must be fully available to work on weekends and participate in rotational on-call shifts for incident management. Problem-Solving: A strong "firefighter" mindset with the ability to maintain composure and resolve high-severity issues during system outages. Communication: Excellent English communication skills to clear sync with business analysts, basis teams, and functional consultants during critical failures.
