About the role
As an experienced data engineer at the D. E. Shaw group in the Futures team based in Hyderabad/Gurugram, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data used in simulation, forecasting, and trading activities. Your responsibilities will include: - Owning the data quality backbone for futures research and trading - Building processes for data quality checks on key time series datasets - Detecting statistical insights or anomalies - Validating historical coverage and reconciling multiple sources for new instrument and dataset onboarding - Conducting cross source reconciliation by comparing internal datasets with external vendor feeds - Assisting with migration and shadow checks during infrastructure or schema changes - Acting as the first point of contact for data questions and maintaining clear documentation and standard operating procedures You will primarily use Python and statistical methods to analyze and validate data, collaborating with developers, quants, and operations to ensure datasets are suitable for research and live trading. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors or masters degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field - 2-6 years of relevant experience in data analysis or data engineering - Hands-on experience using Python and modern data analysis libraries for working with large tabular and time series data - Applied statistics skills for real-world data analysis - Strong attention to detail and focus on data accuracy and consistency - Clear and concise communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders Preferred qualifications include experience reconciling data from multiple sources, exposure to financial data, and familiarity with basic command line tools and version control.
