About the role
About Dash0
Join Dash0 and help us define the future of observability. We are OpenTelemetry-native, building a delightful, simple, and AI-centric platform that eliminates vendor lock-in and meaningless toil. Shape a product that developers love—all with transparent pricing and cost-control built in.
The Opportunity
Dash0 is looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join one of our core backend teams — Intelligent Edge, Revenue Engineering, or Platform. You'll build everything from high-scale data pipelines and edge processing to the usage-based billing systems that power our business.
This is a role where product thinking matters as much as engineering craft. You'll work at the intersection of massive-scale infrastructure and business-critical systems — processing billions of signals, querying terabytes of data, and ensuring accuracy in metering systems where real money is on the line. We need someone who cares about the end-user experience and the economic efficiency of every technical decision.
What You'll Do
-
Build highly scalable and resilient backend services in Go — from core ingestion pipelines and edge processing to usage-based billing infrastructure.
-
Solve data engineering challenges at scale, including efficiently querying terabytes of data in ClickHouse and ensuring data accuracy in complex metering systems.
-
Collaborate with product teams to evaluate the economic efficiency of technical designs and ensure maximum value for customers — you're a Product Engineer, not just a coder.
-
Architect and evolve backend systems to handle billions of observability signals with low latency and high reliability.
-
Define standards for code quality and testing, serving as a mentor to the team and ensuring systems remain maintainable as we scale.
-
Drive best practices for Go services and OpenTelemetry distributions across the engineering organization.
-
What You Bring
-
Extensive experience building and scaling distributed backend systems, primarily in Go.
-
Familiarity with high-performance data stores like ClickHouse or messaging systems like Kafka.
-
A product mindset — you care about the end-user experience and think about the business impact of your technical decisions.
-
Strong understanding of observability principles, including experience with OpenTelemetry and Prometheus.
-
Experience designing for reliability, scalability, and operational excellence in production environments.
-
A collaborative approach to engineering — you mentor others, share knowledge, and raise the bar for the team.
-
Nice to Have
-
Experience with Java in addition to Go.
-
Background in billing, metering, or revenue engineering systems.
-
Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed startup environment.
-
