Job Title: Google Workspace Manager Department: Information Technology / Enterprise Infrastructure Reports To: IT Director / Head of Infrastructure Job Type: Full-time Job Summary The Google Workspace Manager will oversee the administration, security, compliance, and strategic optimization of the organization's entire Google Workspace ecosystem. This role is responsible for maintaining smooth tenant-wide operations (Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, etc.), securing corporate data against leaks, managing user identities and endpoint devices, and driving the adoption of collaborative tools across all departments. Key Responsibilities 1. System Administration & Lifecycle Management Manage the Google Admin Console , including tenant configuration, organizational units (OUs), custom domains, and licensing. Automate and oversee the user lifecycle process, including onboarding, account provisioning, role changes, and secure offboarding (including data preservation and file transfer). Administer group memberships, shared drives, company calendars, and institutional resource booking. 2. Security, Compliance & Identity Governance Enforce security baselines across the organization, including mandatory Two-Step Verification (2SV) , password complexities, and context-aware access control. Implement and manage Google Vault for eDiscovery, retention rules, legal holds, and data archiving. Monitor audit logs, system performance, and automated alerts to proactively identify and mitigate security risks, phishing attempts, or data exfiltration. Manage Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules and monitor/audit third-party app integrations via API permissions. 3. Endpoint & Mobile Device Management (MDM) Configure and maintain corporate policies for company-owned and BYOD endpoints (iOS, Android, ChromeOS, Windows, MacOS). Monitor device compliance, approve hardware access, and execute remote wipes/blocks on compromised or lost devices. 4. Architecture, Integration & Email Routing Manage cloud identity architecture, ensuring smooth Single Sign-On (SSO) integration, SAML configurations, and synchronization with directories (e.g., Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID). Oversee mail routing policies, spam filtering, and security protocols like SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to ensure domain deliverability and safety. Coordinate data migration projects (e.g., migrating users or files from Microsoft 365 or on-prem file servers to Google Workspace). 5. Adoption, Training & Continuous Improvement Serve as the internal subject matter expert (SME), leading employee training and drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Keep up to date with Googles feature release roadmap, assess the impact on business operations, and introduce new efficiencies (such as GenAI features/Duet AI/Gemini add-ons). Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of dedicated experience administering Google Workspace in an enterprise environment (500+ users). Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of the Google Admin Console, Google Vault, and Google Cloud Identity. Solid foundational knowledge of DNS, networking, email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and API integrations. Experience writing basic scripts (e.g., Google Apps Script, Python) or using GAM (Google Apps Manager) CLI for bulk management tasks is highly preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (equivalent practical experience considered). Certification: Professional Google Workspace Administrator or Associate Google Workspace Administrator certification is strongly preferred.
