What You'll Do As a Senior Software Engineer/Systems analyst , you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and evolving the backend services that power DAZN's global platform. Working within a collaborative, cross-functional engineering team, you'll help build resilient, scalable, and high-performing solutions while driving engineering excellence through best practices, technical leadership, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services using Node.js and TypeScript , delivering secure and resilient solutions for millions of users worldwide. Develop and optimise RESTful and GraphQL APIs using frameworks such as NestJS and ExpressJS , ensuring high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code. Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and UX teams to deliver customer-centric features from concept through production. Design and implement cloud-native, microservices-based applications leveraging modern engineering practices and AWS cloud services. Build efficient and scalable data models, integrating with both SQL and NoSQL databases while ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliability. Drive engineering excellence by contributing to Low-Level Design (LLD) discussions, creating and reviewing pseudocode, evaluating design patterns, and promoting clean architecture principles. Champion software quality through unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD best practices, and adherence to engineering standards. Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously optimise system performance, scalability, observability, and reliability. Contribute to technical design discussions, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering organisation. Mentor junior engineers, share technical expertise, and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture. Stay current with emerging technologies, backend engineering trends, and industry best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to improve platform capabilities and developer productivity.
