About the role
Role Overview: As a Senior Java Engineer in the Investments Solutions team at Deutsche Bank, you will be responsible for owning backend systems and contributing to the design and evolution of scalable architectures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex business problems using modern Java technologies and event-driven design patterns. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java 21 and Spring Boot, focusing on concurrency, memory management, and JVM performance tuning. - Architect, implement, and operate event-driven systems using MQs/Kafka to ensure reliable message processing, scalability, and resilience. - Conduct load and stress testing, measure performance, identify bottlenecks, and fine-tune database and application configurations. - Apply and promote engineering best practices such as TDD, BDD, clean code, and code reviews for maintainable and testable solutions. - Diagnose and resolve complex issues in distributed systems, utilizing strong analytical and debugging skills across application, data, and infrastructure layers. - Collaborate with architecture, platform, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and production-ready solutions addressing business challenges. - Design innovative solutions aligned with the bank's strategic direction and challenge the 'status quo' to adhere to industry best practices. Qualifications Required: - 12-14+ years of hands-on experience with Java & Spring Boot or similar technologies. - Proficiency in Java 21, including concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning, with experience in Spring Boot and microservices architecture. - Knowledge of design patterns, relational databases, data models, SQL tools, and Microservice architectures. - Experience with REST API, public cloud platforms like GCP/Azure/AWS, and working in distributed multicultural teams. - Strong advocate for TDD, BDD, clean code, and engineering best practices. - Analytical and debugging skills in distributed systems, with exposure or willingness to learn cloud, event processing, and Big Data technologies. - Familiarity with DevOps tools and agile methodologies like SCRUM, Kanban. - Excellent command of spoken and written English.
