About the role
The core network engineer roles and responsibilities remain centered around building and maintaining robust, secure, and efficient networking systems. Network engineers are typically responsible for: Designing and deploying network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPNs, etc.) Troubleshooting network issues and resolving outages Ensuring network security through firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and secure protocols Monitoring network performance and tuning it for optimal speed and reliability Collaborating with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement new technologies Maintaining up-to-date documentation of network setups and changes Managing hardware such as routers, switches, and wireless access points Supporting cloud networking with platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud
