About Commerce, Data & Identity
Commerce, Data & Identity provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.
Job Summary The Identity Engineering team provides critical consumer facing access and identification services across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) business units. Nearly every digital consumer experience across the company relies on Identity Platform for mission critical business operations, including booking Disney Parks and Resort vacations, playing ESPN Fantasy Football, buying products from Shop Disney and many more. These identity services are responsible for over 300 million guest and fan accounts, and billions of transactions per year.
As part of the team, you will be tackling cutting edge issues that come with cloud-based infrastructures, platform resiliency requirements, security, and data migrations at scale. These challenges are regularly given on tight timelines, and we are looking for experienced engineering team members able to make the right decisions and drive them to execution. This position will help the team navigate the changing technology landscape.
The Identity Engineering team is composed of teams of engineers that work to ensure we deliver a stable platform to our business partners that facilitates a world class and compliant registration, login, recovery, and permissions experience.
Engineers work as a team to set a direction that continually seeks to improve on quality, performance and availability by leveraging automation and best practice. This position will serve to help to lead the team in the changing technology landscape, helping set the platform direction and influence the architectural decisions we are making. This position works in partnership with peers across Product, Project Management, and Engineering. This position is also a key element of team’s composition and growth strategy, helping to provide solid mentorship, technical guidance and leadership enabling the team to improve longer term velocity.

Responsibilities
Work as part of a team Drive stand-ups and other sprint meetings Help set platform direction and influence architectural decisions Understand product requirements, translate to sprint stories, leading the team through execution Define, review, document, and estimate LOE for software design and development Define and prioritize sprint work for the team Work with other leaders on cross-functional projects Weekly 1:1 with team members to guide them through personal and career development Annual review for direct reports
Required Skills Ability to hire, mentor and lead a team of engineers, collaborate and drive organizational change Expert level understanding of Java Virtual Machine based web services, and RESTful framework and GraphQL Extensive experience in developing high quality code using technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Scala Clear communicator (written and verbal) with great communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical audiences Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables Knowledge and understanding of Application Lifecycle Management, Software Development and Agile Development/Testing practices and methodologies Ability to effectively collaborate with Product, Program and Support organizations to build and maintain a product roadmap Assist in the preparation of presentations and formal analysis in support of executive decision making and strategy development
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field)
