About The Organization Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity. Job Summary At Disney, the Metadata Authority team is building the intelligence that transforms raw video, artwork, and text into rich, structured metadatathe kind that makes it possible for millions of viewers to discover exactly what they love. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, youll take the latest advances in Generative AI and multimodal models and put them into production at a global scale. Your work will make our content more searchable, more personalized, and more accessiblewhether its surfacing the perfect moment in a live sports game, generating a descriptive scene caption for accessibility, or powering a recommendation that sparks someones next obsession. You wont just train modelsyoull own the pipelines, services, and operational tooling that let them run reliably and efficiently for some of the most iconic brands in entertainment. Youll work with data from across the Disney ecosystem, collaborate with platform teams building our medallion-architecture data foundation, and return enriched, validated metadata into our Source of Truth systems for use in discovery, personalization, compliance, and monetization. If you want to work at the intersection of Gen AI, media, and large-scale distributed systems, and your idea of impact is seeing your code directly shape what hundreds of millions of people watch, this is your role. Responsibilities and Duties of the Role: Build and maintain multimodal AI pipelines for extracting metadata from video, artwork, and text, including captions, object detection, scene classification, summarization, and sentiment analysis. Develop low-latency inference services to process live content without blocking downstream workflows. Integrate Gen AI capabilities into production systems using AWS (SageMaker, Lambda, S3, Glue) and distributed processing frameworks where applicable. Collaborate with data platform teams to consume curated data from the organizations medallion-architecture pipelines and return enriched metadata for Gold-layer publishing. Implement quality control, validation, and governance processes for AI-generated metadata to ensure accuracy, compliance, and auditability. Automate workflows and CI/CD pipelines for model training, deployment, and monitoring. Drive observability, alerting, and operational excellence for AI services at scale Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training: 5+ years of backend or ML engineering experience, with strong proficiency in Python and/or Java. Proven track record deploying AI/ML models into production, with emphasis on multimodal and Gen AI systems. Strong knowledge of AWS services (SageMaker, Lambda, S3, SQS, Glue) and experience with .
