Full Stack Shopify Plus Developer with Hydrogen and UI/UX Expertise

Full Stack Shopify Plus Developer (Hydrogen + UI/UX) Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Shopify Plus Developer with strong Hydrogen (headless) expertise and UI/UX capabilities to build and scale a premium, high-performance, editorial-quality e-commerce experience. This is not a standard Shopify theme role this position requires deep experience in headless commerce, custom storefront architecture, and luxury-grade UI execution. Experience Requirements 35+ years of hands-on Shopify / eCommerce development experience Minimum 2+ years with Shopify Plus Strong production experience with Shopify Hydrogen (headless architecture) Proven experience building high-end DTC storefronts (not generic templates) Core Technical Responsibilities 1. Frontend (Hydrogen + UI/UX Execution) Build and maintain custom Shopify Hydrogen storefronts using React architecture Develop pixel-perfect, responsive UI components from Figma/creative direction Implement advanced UI/UX interactions, animations, and transitions (luxury-grade experience) Ensure mobile-first, cross-browser, and device performance optimization Build reusable component libraries and scalable design systems Translate design production code with high fidelity (no compromise on luxury look & feel) 2. Headless Architecture & Shopify Integration Develop headless storefront architecture using Hydrogen + Storefront API Integrate Shopify backend (products, inventory, checkout, customer flows) via GraphQL APIs Manage complex data flows across: Shopify CMS (if used) Payment systems Third-party services Build custom checkout flows, cart logic, and personalization features 3. Backend & API Development Develop backend logic using: Node.js / JavaScript / TypeScript Middleware layers for integrations Work with: Shopify Admin API Storefront API Webhooks Custom APIs Build integrations with: ERP / CRM / PIM systems Payment gateways Shipping/logistics systems 4. Performance & Optimization Optimize storefront performance for: Page load speed Core Web Vitals SEO and rendering Implement: Server-side rendering (SSR) Advanced caching strategies Lazy loading & asset optimization 5. Deployment & DevOps Manage deployment workflows using: Shopify Oxygen (hosting layer) CI/CD pipelines Handle: Environment configurations Production debugging Release management 6. Problem Solving & Ownership Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions Handle production issues and debugging across frontend + backend Lead architecture decisions for scalability and performance Work independently with minimal supervision Required Technical Skills Frontend React (advanced) TypeScript JavaScript (ES6+) HTML5 / CSS3 / Tailwind or equivalent Animation frameworks (GSAP / Framer Motion preferred) Shopify Ecosystem Shopify Plus (mandatory) Shopify Hydrogen framework Shopify Storefront API (GraphQL) Shopify Admin API & Webhooks Shopify Functions / Checkout Extensibility Headless / Architecture Headless commerce architecture API-driven development SSR / SPA hybrid architectures Backend Node.js (strong proficiency) REST & GraphQL APIs Middleware integration logic DevOps Oxygen deployment or equivalent Git + version control CI/CD pipelines UI/UX Capabilities (VERY IMPORTANT) This role must combine engineering + design sensitivity: Strong understanding of: Luxury UI design principles Conversion-driven UX High-end visual hierarchy Ability to: Interpret design systems Improve UX proactively Ensure cinematic / editorial feel Not just developer must think like a product + UX engineer Nice to Have (Preferred) Experience with: Headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful, Storyblok) Search tools (Algolia) Analytics (GA4, GTM) A/B testing frameworks Exposure to international eCommerce (multi-currency, multi-market) Soft Skills Strong problem-solving mindset Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly Experience working with founders / fast-paced startup teams High attention to detail (critical for luxury brand positioning) What Success Looks Like (KPIs) Fully functional Hydrogen storefront with premium performance + UI Fast, scalable website architecture Seamless Shopify integrations High conversion, high AOV UX experience Important Note to Consultants / Agencies We are specifically looking for: Hands-on developers (not project managers) Real production experience with Hydrogen Portfolio of high-quality, custom Shopify Plus builds Experience Level Senior Level .
