AS400 Developer

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented AS/400 (iSeries/IBM i) Developer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting applications on the AS/400 platform. This includes coding in RPG (RPGLE/Free), CL, and DB2/400, as well as understanding business processes and translating them into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the AS/400 platform using RPG (RPGLE, Free RPG), CL, and DDS.

Analyze business requirements and create technical specifications.

Perform unit and integration testing; support QA and UAT phases.

Provide production support and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Participate in application enhancements, bug fixes, and performance tuning.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and other developers.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation for all code changes.

Work with DB2/400 databases including queries, tables, triggers, and stored procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong experience in RPG (IV, RPGLE, Free RPG) , CL/CLLE , and DDS .

Experience with DB2/400 , SQL, and database design concepts.

Understanding of IBM iSeries (AS/400) architecture and tools (SEU, SDA, RLU, PDM, etc.).

Knowledge of job scheduling, system utilities, and message handling on IBM i.

Proficient in debugging and performance tuning of applications.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to modernization tools (e.g., Web services, APIs, Node.js, Java integration with AS/400).

• Familiarity with Change Management tools like TurnOver, Aldon, or similar.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
