About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following: - Reviewing, interpreting, and clarifying project specifications to ensure project requirements are met - Generating design drawings and calculations within estimated timelines - Collaborating with different departments to achieve the most economic and suitable design - Developing ideas for future equipment and services improvements - Creating 2D/3D CAD drawings for equipment, civil work layouts, and mechanical design details - Producing installation and piping arrangement drawings, steel construction drawings, and process flow diagrams - Compiling parts-lists, bills of materials, and technical documentation - Applying safety standards to equipment and services - Maintaining and updating standard drawings and data for specific products or equipment - Providing technical support to Operations by generating sales assistance, drawings, or calculations - Advising Project Management and Project Engineers on project status - Performing basic engineering analysis Qualifications required for this role: - Minimum of HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering - Three to five years of experience in a relevant industry, preferably in mechanical design of water treatment plants - Completed internship in computer-aided design with two to five years of experience - Familiarity with International Standards such as ISO, DIN, ASME VIII, B31.1, B31.3 - Knowledge of Water Treatment Systems and their materials and components Skills required for this role: - Proficiency in Technical Drawing Standards to BS8888:2020 and ISO 128 - Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment - Strong analytical and interpretational skills - Ability to communicate effectively in English - Logical and scientific thinking to solve practical problems - Decision-making skills in standard and non-standard situations - Experience with 2D/3D AutoCAD Drawing systems (AutoCAD Plant 3D, Advance Steel) and Navisworks - Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs - Familiarity with Pressure Vessel and Structural Steel Specifications Your role as a Mechanical Design Engineer will be crucial in ensuring the successful completion of projects and the continuous improvement of equipment and services.
