As a Process Engineer at Lilly, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for designing, optimizing, and scaling up laboratory-based processes to ensure robust manufacturing of drug substances and products. You will collaborate closely with development scientists and cross-functional engineering groups to deliver high-quality technical solutions and effective technology transfer. Your key responsibilities will include: - Partnering with TS/MS scientists to design, develop, and refine laboratory-scale processes. - Establishing, maintaining, and optimizing unit operations in the process development lab. - Developing scale-down models for process characterization and troubleshooting. - Conducting hands-on laboratory experiments, data analysis, and technical reporting. - Supporting tech transfer activities and implementing process improvements. - Ensuring safe operation of laboratory equipment and compliance with EH&S expectations. - Collaborating with automation, analytical, mechanical, and instrumentation engineering groups. - Staying current with industry trends and engaging in external collaborations to enhance internal capabilities. Qualifications required for this role include: - Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with 5-8 years of experience. - Experience in process development, lab-scale engineering, or manufacturing support. - Knowledge of process modeling software, GMP expectations, and laboratory quality systems. - Familiarity with 3D modeling tools for equipment design and technology transfer. - Demonstrated experience in laboratory-scale unit operations relevant to the role. - Strong analytical and PC skills, including data modeling and statistical methods. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal direction.
