About the role
Job Description You will be a part of Elsevier's E-PIC engineering team, which focuses on enhancing research outcomes and elevating customer experience through innovative initiatives. The team operates in a cross-disciplinary environment with expertise in design, development, quality assurance, and cloud infrastructure. Embracing Agile methodologies, a DevOps culture, and Continuous Delivery practices, the team encourages experimentation and learning with full ownership of product features. Key Responsibilities - Work with technologies like React and Java - Contribute to migrating from legacy JavaScript application to React - Design and implement APIs using the Spring Framework for backend development - Establish a high-quality engineering pipeline using Agile methodologies - Own solutions end-to-end and embrace a DevOps culture - Mentor junior engineers, ensuring code quality and standards across the team Qualifications Required - Proven experience in commercial software engineering with front-end and server-side applications - Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Java - Experience with Spring Framework, RESTful services, and REST APIs - Strong understanding of Agile teams and DevOps practices - Exposure to CI/CD, AWS, Docker, microservice-based architecture - Advocate for clean code, Test-Driven Development (TDD), SOLID, and DRY principles - Experience with software releases for cloud deployment - Knowledge of Scala, Spark, EMR, Kubernetes, Airflow, and Terraform - Strong understanding of software architecture and design You will have the opportunity to work in a way that promotes a healthy work/life balance, with various well-being initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance, and sabbaticals.
