Job Summary: The Senior Engineer – Production (Vehicle) will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing vehicle assembly operations to achieve production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety (PQCDS) objectives. The role requires strong expertise in production planning, line balancing, process optimization, manpower management, and Lean Manufacturing while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless production flow. Key Responsibilities: 1. Production Operations Plan, supervise, and execute day-to-day vehicle assembly operations to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets. Prepare and execute production schedules in coordination with Planning, Supply Chain, and Stores teams. Monitor production performance and ensure adherence to production plans while minimizing downtime and bottlenecks. Drive optimum line balancing and manpower utilization to maximize productivity and throughput. 2. Team Leadership Lead, guide, train, and mentor shop-floor operators and technicians. Manage shift planning, manpower allocation, attendance, and skill development initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous learning. 3. Quality & Manufacturing Excellence Ensure adherence to quality standards, manufacturing specifications, SOPs, and work instructions. Coordinate closely with Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Planning, and Stores teams to ensure uninterrupted production. Conduct process audits and ensure compliance with manufacturing and quality standards. Monitor production KPIs including: Productivity OEE Line efficiency Rejection rate Rework Downtime First Pass Yield (FPY) 4. Continuous Improvement Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives across the production line. Lead Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Poka-Yoke, PDCA, and waste elimination projects. Perform Root Cause Analysis using Why-Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagram, and other structured problem-solving tools. Implement CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) to eliminate recurring production issues. Support cost reduction initiatives through process optimization, cycle time reduction, and productivity improvement. 5. Planning & Reporting Analyze daily production data and prepare MIS reports and performance dashboards. Track production metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvement actions. Support capacity planning and production readiness for new models or process changes. 6. Safety & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to EHS policies, workplace safety standards, and statutory compliance. Promote safe working practices and maintain high housekeeping standards across the production floor. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Diploma candidates with relevant experience may also be considered. 2–4 years of experience in automotive, electric vehicle, bicycle, or manufacturing assembly operations. Hands-on experience in vehicle assembly, production planning, line balancing, manpower management, and shop-floor operations. Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience with production KPIs, manufacturing reporting, and operational performance analysis. Good knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/MRP systems. Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
