About the role
Experience in developing engineering design concepts for components and electromechanical assemblies that have demanding requirements for size, precision, reliability manufacturability, and cost. Engage in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction, and service support. Experience designing conceptual models by using computer-based design/drafting tools, performing engineering analysis for multi-body dynamics, fatigue & fracture mechanics, strain energy, theories of elastic failures, experimental stress analysis & their use in design of structural components. Knowledge of tooling, molding, design, and process methods of plastic components. Knowledge of Design for Statistical Analysis methods, Design of Experiments and Measurement techniques. Demonstrated experience in identifying the Verification and Validation requirements for a handheld consumer electronics device. Experience in coordinating the work with cross-functional teams to complete stability requirements, sterilization requirements, Packaging requirements, and verification and validation requirements. Prepares reports, presentations, and spreadsheets of an analytical and interpretative nature to be presented to the team. Implement and maintain a quality improvement process targeting reduction in product variation and product losses using key management tools. Execute design and verification in the product development life cycle concept and feasibility, risk analysis (DFMEA, DFM, DFA, PFMEA), prototyping, designing V&V, and design transfer as needed for projects. Execute design reviews with a cross-functional team to ensure the design meets the product requirements for safety, reliability, and manufacturability. Maintaining CAD models/designs for all phases of the stage-gate process from concept to commercial launch. Develop and execute design control requirements including the creation of detailed specifications, design verification, and validation plans, protocols, and reports. Technical Responsibilities: Experience in the design and development of hand-held consumer electronics devices/ automobile engine parts/ components for space products and related processes plastic, and sheet metal. Strong CAD skills (Solid Works, AUTOCAD) including 3D model design, tolerance specifications, and tolerance stack-up analysis for product assemblies. Knowledge of different manufacturing processes for plastic as well as metal for prototypes as well as production parts. Working knowledge of design change management process. A strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on abilities with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of Risk Analysis, DFMEA, DFM & DFA. Experience with all necessary technical documentation such as engineering drawings, bills of materials, and related product specifications to allow successful transfer to manufacturing. Added Advantage: Hands-on Fusion 360 Experience in Static, Thermal, and Mold Flow Analysis Experience in APQP Documentation Vendor Development Experience in injection molding trials Packaging Design Jig & Fixture Design for production to reduce cycle time VAVE Value Analysis & Value Engineering
