About the role
As an Azure Cloud Operations & Data Platform Engineer with 6-10 years of experience, your main role will involve managing and supporting Azure cloud infrastructure for enterprise data and database workloads. You will also be responsible for administering SQL Server environments hosted on Azure IaaS and on-premises infrastructure, performing patching, upgrades, and maintenance tasks across different environments. Monitoring system performance, security posture, and operational reliability will be essential, as well as implementing best practices for cloud infrastructure, backups, disaster recovery, and performance optimization. Your key responsibilities will include: - Managing and supporting Azure cloud infrastructure for enterprise data and database workloads - Administering and maintaining SQL Server environments hosted on Azure IaaS and on-premises infrastructure - Performing SQL Server patching, upgrades, maintenance, and lifecycle management - Monitoring system performance, availability, security posture, and operational reliability - Implementing operational best practices for cloud infrastructure, backups, disaster recovery, and performance optimization - Coordinating maintenance windows and stakeholder communications for smooth patching activities - Leading migration initiatives from on-premises SQL Server environments to Azure cloud platforms - Managing vulnerability remediation activities using modern security and vulnerability management tools - Supporting data governance initiatives and modern data platforms including Lakehouse architecture - Designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for data engineering and data management projects - Coordinating with stakeholders for project execution and providing status reporting and documentation to leadership Required skills & qualifications: - 6-10 years of experience in Azure Cloud Operations, SQL Server Administration, or Data Platform Operations - Strong experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and Azure infrastructure operations - Hands-on experience in SQL Server patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance - Experience with vulnerability management, CI/CD pipelines, and data governance platforms - Knowledge of DevOps practices, deployment automation, and enterprise data governance practices - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline Preferred qualifications include experience with Azure DevOps, Git-based deployment models, familiarity with enterprise security standards, and Azure or SQL Server certifications. Your soft skills should include strong stakeholder management, communication, coordination, analytical thinking, collaboration, ownership, and leadership qualities. Your ability to work effectively as an individual contributor while supporting global teams and U.S.-based stakeholders will be crucial for success in this role.
