About the role
As a Database Administrator in our company, your role will involve the following responsibilities: - Perform data management tasks such as loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data to ensure database accuracy as a reliable data source. - Conduct Database Maintenance activities like Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats, and monitor scheduled maintenance activities. - Monitor and manage space by purging obsolete data and reclaiming space to maintain optimal database performance. - Identify and troubleshoot database issues with high priority, ensuring smooth operations. - Monitor database backups and maintenance jobs, troubleshooting job failures when necessary and collaborating with Operations. - Monitor databases for unusual activities and restrictive states, and periodically check logs for any potential issues. - Refresh Dev/Test databases with production backup images as requested, contributing to a collaborative multi-client environment. - Possess knowledge of Cobol Programming and familiarity with Database Third party Software tools such as Omegamon, Tmon, BMC Suite, and CA DB2 Toolset is a plus. - Provide off-hours support as required and participate in the Oncall Schedule. - Platforms you will be working on include z/os DB2, IMS, and bonus platforms like IDMS, Adabase, Supra, System 2000, and Datacom.
