About the role
Role Overview: You will be providing premium zOS system programming support and services to Ensono mainframe clients. Your responsibilities will include performing mainframe zOS operating system upgrades using SMPE and zOSMF workflows, as well as ISV product upgrades/maintenance to ensure compatibility with zOS and meet contractual obligations. Additionally, you will collaborate with vendor personnel to achieve timely upgrades and support the mainframe environment. Key Responsibilities: - Perform standard system programming activities such as configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E, and install vendor software in the mainframe environment. - Support storage management, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures from a zOS perspective. - Collaborate with Mainframe System Programmers staff to enhance the mainframe environment. - Participate in software deployments for ISVs and zOS, and provide support functions as defined by the department manager. - Possess interpersonal skills to maintain good relations with business and development users. - Assist team members in problem-solving, implementing improvements, and making decisions. - Identify and implement system and process improvements in the z/OS environment, working with application support teams and internal customers to support business initiatives. - Review and approve documentation of system software products, including usage instructions, configuration notes, test plans, customizations, process guides, and procedure guides. Qualification Required: - 8+ years of professional work experience as a Mainframe System Programmer in zOS & ISVs. - Drive and self-motivation to enhance current skills and learn new technologies. - Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word) or equivalent. - Conceptual or practical understanding of various technologies including Mainframe, Open Systems, Networking, etc. - Strong analytical/problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. - Proactive attitude, dependability, and attention to detail. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate effectively in a team, and handle stress. - Able to present ideas clearly, communicate effectively (verbal and written), make decisions, and escalate issues when necessary. - Willingness to receive feedback and instructions positively.
