About the role
Role Overview: You will be responsible for providing formal mentorship and handling high, moderate, and low complexity assignments. As a Database Administrator, you will lead yourself and others, establish yourself as a Product Subject Matter Expert (SME), and ensure alignment with Ensono's overall strategy. Your duties will include installation, configuration, backup, recovery, change control, capacity planning, optimization, security checks, audits, health checks, monitoring, vendor support, SLA maintenance, data model/architecture, migrations, decommissioning, creation, configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance, refreshes, troubleshooting, repairs, reporting, tuning, SOP definition & automation, license management, documentation, tool management, workload analysis, disaster recovery, failover services, developer collaboration, user management, and contributing innovative ideas to the DBA knowledge base. You will also architect complex database solutions, be on-call, and mentor less experienced associates. Key Responsibilities: - Consistently provide formal mentorship - Handle high, moderate, and low complexity assignments - Lead self and others as a Product SME or specialist - Align tasks with overall Ensono strategy - Install and configure database software - Plan and implement database backup and recovery - Implement change control and configuration management policies - Perform capacity planning and system-level architecture - Optimize OS/Storage/DB configuration - Conduct database security checks, audits, and compliance reporting - Perform database health checks and monitoring - Work with DBMS vendor support - Define and maintain quantitative SLAs - Architect physical data model, DDL generation, and maintenance - Manage DB server migrations and decommissioning - Create, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain databases - Proactively and reactively troubleshoot and repair databases - Report on database state and performance - Tune databases for optimal performance - Manage specialized environments like log shipping, replication, cluster-based instances - Define SOPs and automate procedures - Manage DBMS and related tools licenses - Document all Systems DBA areas - Manage database-related tools - Automate quantitative SLA measurement - Develop and utilize triage processes - Analyze detailed workloads - Advise and plan infrastructure - Provide disaster recovery and failover services - Collaborate with Developers - Ensure database availability - Manage database users and security/access control - Contribute innovative ideas to the DBA knowledge base - Architect complex database solutions - Be on-call - Mentor less experienced associates Qualifications Required: - Minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree, or 6 years with a Masters degree, or a PhD with 3 years experience, or equivalent work experience - Analytical skills - Organizational skills - Complex problem-solving abilities - Documentation proficiency - Ability to multitask - Strong relational database knowledge - SQL proficiency - UNIX and Windows operating systems proficiency - Strong Database Administration and Performance Tuning skills - Project Management skills - Coaching skills - Leadership qualities - Ability to work independently - Logical/Physical Database Design knowledge Qualifications Preferred: - Detailed knowledge of Ensono products - Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience Please Note: Specific hiring needs, travel percentage, and any additional details of the company are not mentioned in the provided job description.
