As a skilled Database Administrator, your role at the company involves a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation and optimization of the database systems. Some of the key responsibilities include: - Taking ownership of high complexity assignments, while also overseeing moderate complexity tasks and providing review for low complexity assignments. - Leading self and others, acting as a Product Subject Matter Expert (SME), and demonstrating specialist expertise. - Understanding how your individual contributions align with the overall Ensono strategy. - Installing and configuring database software and related products. - Planning and executing database backup and recovery procedures. - Implementing change control and configuration management policies to ensure robust system operation. - Conducting capacity planning and designing system-level architecture. - Optimizing OS, storage, and database configurations. - Performing database security checks, audits, and compliance-related reporting. - Conducting general database health checks and monitoring. - Collaborating with DBMS vendor support for issue resolution. - Defining and maintaining quantitative SLAs to enhance service levels. - Managing physical data model/architecture, DDL generation, and maintenance. - Executing DB server migrations, decommissioning, creation, and configuration tasks. - Applying patches, upgrading databases, and conducting maintenance activities. - Refreshing databases, improving processes, and automating procedures. - Reviewing log-files, troubleshooting complex issues, and conducting repairs. - Reporting on the state of databases and conducting proactive/reactive tuning. - Maintaining specialized environments such as log shipping, replication, and cluster-based instances. - Defining and automating SOPs, managing DBMS tools, and ensuring license compliance. - Documenting all Systems DBA areas and implementing automated SLA measurement. - Developing triage processes, workload analysis, infrastructure planning, and disaster recovery services. - Collaborating with developers, managing database users, and enhancing security/access controls. - Contributing innovative ideas to the DBA knowledge base and architecting complex database solutions. - Being on-call for any urgent database-related issues. While this position does not involve direct reports, you may mentor less experienced associates. In terms of qualifications, the following skills and experiences are required: - Minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. - Strong analytical, organizational, and complex problem-solving abilities. - Proficiency in documentation, multitasking, and relational databases (SQL). - Experience with UNIX, Windows, Database Administration, Performance Tuning, and Project Management. - Coaching skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work independently. - Logical and physical database design capabilities. Additionally, preferred qualifications include: - Detailed knowledge of Ensono products. - Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience or equivalent work experience. Travel for this role is expected to be less than 5%.
