Database Engineer (Oracle &SQL Server / DB2 z/OS)

Job Description Database Engineer (Oracle &SQL Server / DB2 z/OS) Key Responsibilities Database Platforms (Oracle / SQL Server / DB2 z/OS) - Administer, configure, and support enterprise RDBMS platforms. - Oracle Database: Administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery. - SQL Server: SSIS, SSRS, SSAS with optimization and troubleshooting. - DB2 for z/OS: Subsystem support and mainframe coordination. DB2 z/OS Utilities & Connectivity - Handson experience with REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD, COPY, RECOVER. - Support troubleshooting for DB2 Gateway, IBM Data Server Client, JDBC/ODBC/CLI drivers. Performance Management & Issue Resolution - Endtoend performance monitoring and tuning across RDBMS platforms. - Diagnose slow SQL, batch workloads, ETL/report performance issues. Capacity Planning & Analysis - Conduct capacity assessment and forecast CPU, Memory, I/O, storage trends. - Recommend scaling strategies and work with infra/mainframe teams. Data Integration & Middleware - Support data integration across heterogeneous platforms. - Troubleshoot latency, throughput, transformation issues in ETL pipelines. Availability, Recovery & Reliability - Implement HA/DR strategies and validate backup & recovery. - Ensure adherence to uptime, recovery, and performance SLAs. Security & Compliance - Administer database security including roles, privileges, authentication. - Support auditing, encryption, and compliance controls. Operating Systems & Tooling - Work across Windows, Linux/Unix, and z/OS environments. - Scripting skills: PowerShell, Bash, JCL, Python. Troubleshooting & Support - Diagnose complex issues in production environments. - Perform RCA and document resolutions. Soft Skills - Excellent communication. - Strong analytical and organizational capabilities .
