SAP S/4HANA Migration Architect Location: Remote / Hybrid, depending on project requirements Contract Type: Freelance / Contract Language: English Start Date: As soon as possible Role Overview We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Migration Architect to support a large-scale brownfield conversion and private cloud migration programme. The consultant will be responsible for defining and driving the technical migration architecture for the conversion from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA 2023 Private Cloud. The role will cover system readiness, conversion sequencing, downtime optimisation, data model transition, security dependencies and post-conversion technical activities. The successful candidate must have extensive experience delivering complex SAP S/4HANA upgrades and cloud migrations within large enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities Define the end-to-end technical architecture for a brownfield SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA 2023 Private Cloud conversion.Own the technical design across development, quality assurance and production environments.Develop and manage the overall migration and system conversion strategy.Assess technical readiness and identify prerequisites, risks and dependencies ahead of conversion.Define the conversion approach, sequencing and execution plan across all environments.Create and optimise the technical downtime strategy for production cutover.Lead technical dry-runs and refine the migration approach based on outcomes, defects and performance results.Coordinate post-conversion technical activities, validation and system stabilisation.Lead data and model transition topics, including Business Partner and Customer-Vendor Integration prerequisites.Assess the impact of SAP S/4HANA data model changes across relevant products and modules.Define data migration validation, reconciliation and acceptance processes.Coordinate technical dependencies relating to SNC, VPN connectivity, logging, encryption and key management.Work closely with security, infrastructure, hosting and integration stakeholders.Ensure the technical solution complies with EU-only data centre and hosting requirements.Support compliance with encryption, SIEM logging, availability, RTO and RPO requirements.Produce technical architecture documentation, migration plans, decision records and risk assessments.Provide technical guidance to project teams, vendors and senior stakeholders throughout the programme. Essential Requirements Within the last five years, experience working as a Migration Architect on at least four large enterprise SAP S/4HANA version upgrade and cloud migration projects.Experience working with enterprise systems containing data from at least 20 institutions or companies and supporting at least 10,000 employees.Strong experience delivering brownfield SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA conversions.Proven knowledge of SAP S/4HANA cloud migration and conversion strategies.Strong understanding of SAP data migration, validation and reconciliation approaches.Experience planning and supporting technical conversion dry-runs.Strong knowledge of SAP products and modules, including their integrations and interdependencies.Detailed understanding of SAP S/4HANA data model changes and their impact on existing processes and custom developments.Experience with Business Partner and Customer-Vendor Integration requirements.Strong knowledge of system landscapes covering development, quality assurance and production environments.Experience coordinating infrastructure, security, hosting and integration dependencies.Understanding of encryption, SIEM logging, VPN, SNC, key management and HSM-related requirements.Knowledge of system availability, disaster recovery, RTO and RPO requirements.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in English. Desirable Experience Experience with SAP S/4HANA 2023 Private Cloud.Experience delivering migrations within highly regulated or security-sensitive environments.Knowledge of SAP Readiness Check, Simplification Item checks and custom code remediation.Experience with downtime optimisation and large-volume data conversion.Experience presenting technical decisions and migration risks to programme leadership and steering committees. .
