As a highly experienced and hands-on coding person, you are being sought for the role of Lead/Senior Cloud Architect to drive the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native solutions for a major enterprise commerce platform. Your role will involve architecting and leading the development of cloud-native systems using microservices and event-driven paradigms. You will design and implement solutions leveraging Kubernetes (preferably AKS) and service mesh technologies like Istio. It will be your responsibility to define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across engineering teams. Additionally, you will drive performance optimization initiatives through end-to-end performance testing to ensure system scalability, responsiveness, and reliability across complex, distributed architectures. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between business goals and technical solutions is crucial. You should be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Maintaining architectural diagrams and documentation with industry-standard tools such as Miro, Gliffy, or Draw.io will also be expected from you. Guiding teams through cloud adoption, modernization, and optimization initiatives, as well as staying current with emerging technologies and evaluating their applicability to business needs, are essential aspects of this role. Your qualifications should include 15+ years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong preference for the Banking domain. Proven experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP) in production environments is necessary. Deep expertise in Kubernetes and container orchestration is required, with Istio or other service mesh experience considered a strong plus. Hands-on experience with NFR, architecture governance, documentation, system design, and architectural design is essential. Proficiency in databases like CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Oracle, messaging/eventing systems such as Kafka, EventHub, cloud networking, IAM, security, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep) is expected. Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub Actions would be beneficial. You should have experience in delivering operational communications in complex, regulated financial services environments. Demonstrated ability to lead architectural discussions, influence technical direction, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in diagramming tools to convey architectural concepts effectively are necessary requirements. Nice to have qualifications include experience with hybrid or multi-cloud environments, familiarity with FinOps, observability, and cloud governance, background in supporting production workloads with high availability and disaster recovery considerations, and knowledge of Hybris e-commerce.
