Job Title: Data Center Facility Technician Job Description: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facility Technician to join our esteemed data center team. As a Facility Technician, your primary responsibilities will include the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical infrastructure components within our state-of-the-art data center facility. This encompasses power systems, generators, HVAC systems, cooling systems, fire suppression systems, security systems, and other essential facility equipment. Additionally, you will play a key role in monitoring environmental conditions and ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate for this position will possess exceptional technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair:: Perform regular maintenance tasks and promptly address any issues or malfunctions with critical infrastructure components such as power systems, generators, HVAC systems, cooling systems, and fire suppression systems. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with facility equipment to identify root causes and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. Monitoring and Oversight: Monitor environmental conditions within the data center, including temperature, humidity, and air quality, to ensure optimal operating conditions for equipment and compliance with industry standards. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards governing data center facilities. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as power outages or equipment failures, and implement contingency plans to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to data center operations. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs performed, and generate reports as needed to track performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives. Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the data center team, including engineers, other technicians, and facilities managers, to coordinate maintenance activities, share knowledge, and contribute to overall operational efficiency. Qualifications: Diploma in Electrical Engineering or relevant coursework in facility management, electrical systems, or related fields. Hands-on experience with tools and equipment used in facility maintenance and repair tasks. Understanding of electrical principles and components, including wiring, circuits, and power distribution systems, to effectively address electrical issues within the data center facility. Knowledge of safety protocols, procedures, and regulations relevant to working in a data center environment, including electrical safety, fire safety, and hazardous materials handling. Ability to analyse complex technical problems, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions to address issues and optimize facility performance. Proven experience in managing data center infrastructure components. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, contractors, and vendors, and convey technical information clearly and concisely. Preferred Skills: Ability to operate and troubleshoot BMS for efficient facility management. Previous work in data centers, understanding industry standards and practices. Familiarity with IT infrastructure, aiding collaboration with IT teams. Experience in managing vendors for timely repairs and maintenance. Capability to manage small projects from planning to execution. Understanding of energy-saving practices for data centers. Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians when needed. Commitment to staying updated with industry advancements. Prioritizing customer needs and ensuring positive interactions. Proficiency in interpreting facility data for informed decision-making.
