AWS Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure and scalable AWS infrastructure for e-commerce platform

• Set up and maintain proactive controls to manage and monitor health of infrastructure (CloudWatch, Autoscaling, Target Groups, automation tools/processes)

• Maintain production and development infrastructure, including business support and development tools (Splunk, Jenkins, SAP, etc.)

• Manage resource usage and work with CTO to reduce AWS costs

• Ensure all infrastructure and application health metrics / logs are being recorded appropriately

• Work with security manager to regularly conduct security audits

• Upgrade servers with latest security patches and updates

• Identify areas of improvement around design, cost, efficiency

• Document and publish infrastructure architecture

• Mentor junior engineers through difficult challenges and teach/uphold best practices

Skills / Experience

• At least 3 years of experience developing and maintaining infrastructure on AWS

• Understands application/network isolation and fault tolerant design patterns

• Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role

• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management

• Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery

• Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other languages

• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms

• Extensive knowledge and experience using core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS)

• Up to date on latest AWS services and features

• Ability to understand and recommend the potential benefits of using new services

• Experience with infrastructure security; defending and monitoring

Bonus points for AWS certification (associate level or above)

• Proficient in English, written and oral
