Job title – Data Migration Consultant

Location –Crawley , UK

Duration - Permanent

Solution Lead shall:

a. have the ability to manage technical requirements and approach to migrating data across heterogenous environments

b. have the ability create and review the migration strategy including integration of systems across enterprises

c. analyse data and situations, reason logically and creatively, identify problems, draw valid conclusions and develop effective solutions;

d. apply creative thinking in the design and development;

e. establish and maintain co-operative working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work;

f. speak and write effectively in English;

g. be aware of enterprise architecture principles in a diverse landscape involving bespoke, COTS and package applications

h. have experience of leading technical design of applications;

i. have extensive experience with the following essentials: Development Technologies, Modelling tools, Integration platforms, Frameworks, Cloud computing services, Continuous integration, Web services, Web Framework, Modelling Language and tools, Continuous Integration tools, Database, Application and Web Servers, Testing tools, Operating system, Object To Relational Models, Development methodologies

j. have extensive ability to create and deliver solution design documents and artefacts the resource should have a degree in related field with more than 20 years in Enterprise/Solution architecture roles

Migration Strategy and Solutioning

Support the creation/review of the Data Migration Strategy will include the potential for both bulk and delta migrations, including integration of applications across organisations post migration.

Specify and manage the gathering of requirements and managing the Data Migration Scope.

Specify and manage approach to migrating master data, transactional data, application configurations, setup data and historical data including any exceptional need for updating such data.

Contribute to the project plans relating to the Data Migration processes to be adopted.

Raise as identified and risks and issues and manage those assigned to the Data Migration area

Document the Data Migration processes and progress against the project plan"

Data Analysis Processes

Support and manage the review of data quality and their implecation on the approach to migration

Ensure that queries relating to Data Migration are resolved with the appropriate parties. This should cover all stages of the processes from strategy to detailed data mapping and data transformation.

Produce an as-is data definition data from the current legacy systems. This should include historical data.

Perform a data mapping of the legacy system data fields to the new system data fields. This should include detailed specifications of any data transformation required to support the Data Migration process.

Work with legacy system suppliers to support the data migration processes.

Work with the new suppliers to support the data migration processes.

Brief the Programme leads on reconciliation and rejection reports, and help in the resolution of the defects / rejects."

"Data Migration Technical Build

Desing and build the system processes necessary to perform the Data Migration.

Oversee and manage the process of extraction and transformation the agreed open and historical data"

Data Quality

Specify and manage the requirement approach and approach to data cleansing – prior to any migration activity

Verify the data following load into the new solution

Work with the suppliers to resolve any issues surrounding the data migration activity

Ensure that the data as produced satisfies the data quality standards and other external bodies such as IQAP."

"Data Migration Testing, Implementation and Cutover Processes

Support system testing and deployment testing in the following areas – test data preparation, test specifications, test conditions, test cases, testing, analysis and reconciliation of test results and defect resolution

Analyse and verify the reconciliation and rejection reports generated during the pre-load verification, trial load, bulk load, and delta-load stages

Verify the data that has been uploaded into the new solution

Ensure that any data errors identified during the testing and trial loads are rectified to ensure the highest level of data integrity.

Specify and manage the approval of the arrangements for data management during the transition stage between data migration and the onset of new system operation

Oversee testing and go live support as required

Support the planning and execution of the cut-over process"
