Desktop Support

Ø Provide desktop support for the PCs in the labs at Pangbourne, a mix of bp machines and vendor supplied devices

Ø Support the installation of new lab devices and instruments and their connection to the bp lab network

Ø Ensure lab device configurations and data are backed up and held externally to the labs

Ø Audit digital security compliance on lab PCs and make improvements where possible

Ø Enable digital security compliant lab PCs to connect to the bp network (inc. any firewall requests)

Ø Engage with the vendors for all the lab devices to determine if the device can be installed on a modern OS, then plan and implement that activity

Ø Purchasing of any PCs, licences and peripherals to support the labs

Ø Increase the digital security compliance on any PCs that do not have a path to Windows 10 that would allow them limited connectivity to the bp network

Ø Investigate the possibility of using ruggedized tablets or laptops in the labs using wireless connectivity to reduce reliance on the physical network

Ø Support the network team with hands on support for the network; including rack mounting new devices and all patching and cabling

Ø Deploy servers and operating systems where required for applications and uLAN services

Ø Support RDP from the bp network to the lab to enable remote working and remote support of devices and instruments

Ø Support other labs and their teams as a group, learning and sharing best practice

Ø Essentially providing support to all digital assets in the labs and their supporting services
