Job Title: Engineering - Designer Specialty - HFC 2
Job Description: Summary:
The main function of a Designer Specialty – HFC is the production of accurate, cost effective and efficient network design and / or drafting for the CATV industry. A typical Designer Specialty – HFC is also responsible for the checking the quality of production designs. Provide effective communications with customers, peers and management. Supply written reports on status of assigned projects when required.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide effective communications with customers, peers and management
• Supply written reports on status of assigned projects when required
• Perform HFC network design and / or drafting as needed or assigned.
• Meet customer and organizational standards, schedules and quality requirements.
• Have a firm understanding of Lode Data, Bentley****’s and\or SpatialINFO design applications.
• Provide effective communications with customers, peers and management
• Supply written reports on status of assigned projects when required
• Perform strand map digitizing to customer and organizational standards.
• Promptly make all quality control corrections required upon return of previously performed work.
• Learn and utilize computer program applications used for design and drafting.
• Know and understand the design criteria and special instructions for specific assigned projects.
• Interface directly with customers in person, via telephone, fax and e-mail, on issues of clarification on design details and problem identification.
• Keep accurate records of important communications and developments for assigned project and prepare summaries of completed designs and project status information.
• Analyze current design and / or drafting techniques and suggest more efficient techniques where appropriate.
• Provide introductory training for new employees as requested.
• Keep design and / or drafting leaders, supervisor, network engineers and management informed of all pertinent issues.
• Maintain a neat and clean workstation.
• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or required.
Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with a training certificate in CAD design and / or drafting from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.

• Experience in Lode Data Design, SpatialINFO or BentleyCOMMs in lieu of post high school training.

• Must be willing and capable of learning new skills to meet production and revenue goals.

• Must have a valid Driver’s License.

• Strong computer skills.

• Good communications skills.

• Must be adaptable and able to work with others.

• Coax, Ethernet and Fiber handling experience preferred.

• Should be conscientious, attentive to detail and analytical.
