GCP DevOps Engineer

PROJECT:

Compliance IT brings together all areas of financial crime risk management at Client and is dedicated to implementing the most effective global standards to combat financial crime.

We are using cutting edge Big Data technology and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to build tools that enable a global network of Investigators, Intelligence Analysts and Data Scientists to conduct effective intelligence-based investigations. The team covers 20+ live IT Systems and includes +400 IT professionals.

Our team is based across China, India, Poland and the UK.

The Team:

Our team is currently looking for individual with GCP knowledge aiming to work collaboratively (supporting, promoting and sharing best practices. The current architecture is based on a large on premise Hadoop cluster for data management and analytics. We have started a very ambitious programme to migrate data & analytics onto Google Cloud Platform.

Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to join the current development team, get familiar with our environment, product and internal rules to finally organize a structured sequence of actions to upskill the entire team and get them ready to migrate the current work to the cloud. It’s a very senior team, working with a complex stack and the biggest challenge is to understand all technical restrictions that are present in our corporation and still guide the team towards a successful migration of our working product to the GCP.

Key Accountabilities:

It’s a hands-on job where the individual must be capable of

• demonstrate how developers can resolve their current problems using GCP

• Work independently, identifying key topics and organizing regular training sessions

• find alternatives when the common approach is not applicable

• write shippable code when required

• work as a ‘traveler’ across different teams, advising where required

Requirements

• • Google Cloud Platform (Must be enough to handle challenges and build apps on GCP independently)

• • Bash/shell scripting

• • Python development / JupyterHub

• • Automation toolset Software engineering best practices including: continuous integration (using Jenkins) and continuous deployment

• • Git tools

• • Agile development (XP, Scrum, Kanban or others)

• • Excellent communication skills, English, verbal and written • Ability to be self-directed/motivated.

• • Keen to learn new skills and approaches. Inquisitive nature.

• • Excellent organization skills

• • Great communication skills in English
