JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: IT Desktop Computer Engineer (MS Windows)

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Development, build and support of MS Windows image

PRESENT INCUMBENT(S):

SPECIAL ROLE REQUIREMENTS :

Full in-depth working knowledge of Windows 7 and 10 OS platforms and security components. This is a highly technical role.

Enthusiasm for the role and the organisation, with an appetite to provide only the best enterprise desktop technical platform. The role demands leadership.

Must be able to work with enthusiasm alongside operational teams under pressure from the front office, as an expert in class, and have professional qualities at being flexible to meet the needs of the Service Desk, including some working weekends and evening, when needed. This is not a 9-5 job.

Essential to come with knowledge in all aspects of the Windows OS platform and have a full in-depth working knowledge of Windows technologies to enable the job-holder to hit the ground running in the design of the best future state Windows platforms.

A desire and interest to stay up-to-date with the latest changes in Windows and integrated software technologies.

Happy to embed with IT experts of all levels – listening, taking ideas, sharing knowledge and delivering solution with people from different IT backgrounds, agendas and pressures, from senior IT architects, business users, IT management to front line operational support teams, juniors and program developers in the IT department.

Periodic travel required to Head Office, Paris with less occasion travel to other countries

A lot of time will be spent explaining and teaching operational teams how the current state is architected and works, presenting and documenting the workings of the current state, allowing operations teams to understand, deploy and operate the current state.

The job-holder must be enthusiastic to be integrated with operations teams, writing quality operational material, handing over procedures and designs, and being comfortable in running regular structured workshops to share knowledge and hand over the administration and running of the current state platform.

Good understanding of network architecture, PCoIP and VMware

Excellent customer business interest, with a desire and capability to provide a high-performance Windows centric platform to take business advantage

Qualifications/Education Required

• Excellent verbal and written English language skills

• Relevant technical experience

• Higher Education A' Level or degree

• French language

• Experience Required:

• Designed alterations and redevelopments of Windows Desktop platform

• Leading the rollout of new enterprise-wide Windows OS platform

• Ensuring OS and HW compatibility for new Windows OS

• BAU escalation point for Windows Desktop

• Designing and implementing new Windows OS solutions

• Improving resilience of the current environment

• Improving Windows and Client hardware performance

• Understanding OS and HW resources and bottlenecks

• Administration of Group Policy objects and design of the GP model

• Using scripting to create software packages

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Workstation OS and how it functions, especially the registry

• In-depth knowledge of Active Directory

• Microsoft Office 2010, 2013 and 2016

• Developing scripts in one or more of the following - PowerShell, VB Script, Batch Scripting

• Good communication with IT operations teams, clients, operational managers

• Listening and providing technical answers

• Strong Windows desktop related problem solving skills

• Ability to build on good relationships with clients and operational staff, managers and colleagues
