Mechanical Design Engineer

Will work within Technology Team (Product development) based on experience and business need (Completions, Barrier Valve design and detail Engineering and accessories).

Responsibilities

• • Supports new product, product engineering, product improvement and product standardization, and product qualification as per API guidelines depending upon the assigned group.

• • Develops product design, geometry standards documentation, Bill of materials and product qualification requirements.

• • Creates, reviews part reports, detail drawings, check layouts, engineering specifications and assembly.

• • Fixture design, calculation and validation of test fixtures, test procedure and other test related documents

• • Should have experience in should costing, supplier negotiations, Teardown Analysis, Bench marking, data analysis and intelligence basically using statistical methods and also have an experience in developing the Process model for new products.

• • Proficient in performing the FE Modeling, Linear, Structural Dynamics (Modal, Response spectrum, Harmonic,) Analysis, Product optimization, Structural Assessment, Strengthening and Modifications of Existing Offshore Platforms

• • Develops unique solutions for complex technical problems that may include the design of new products/systems or the development of solutions having few or no precedents.

• • Provides Management with technical assistance and work progress updates as requested. Serves as a technical point of contact for assigned work package scope, and may serve as a focal point for all communications related to scope.

• • Mentors and provides technical guidance Drafters. Works collaboratively to accomplish project tasks. Provides independent review of work packages.

• • Provides customer technical assistance and builds strong working relationships.

• • Works to the requirements of industry code (API, ASME and DNV), client standards and specifications.

• • Adheres to all relevant work instructions and design guidelines, clearly demonstrates creativity and innovation in finding solutions and alternatives.

• • This is an individual contributor position. The role is responsible for executing activities assigned by the manager.

• MAIN TASKS:

• Reviews engineering designs (drawings, Bill of materials, specifications, etc.) of existing and new products. Prepare functional check-layout that includes load rating of each component and assembly procedures. Include tolerance calculation in check layouts also considering effect of geometric tolerances. Ensures it meet standards and performance requirements within area of expertise.

• Strong in Solidworks and AutoCAD to create models and drawing. Do FEA and stress test using Solidworks simulation for part and assembly level. Creating cad models for FEA.

• Prepare engineering calculation packages for pressure ratings, thread strength calculations, Fatigue consideration, fixture design calculations etc. Tolerance stack-up analysis sheet and use of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as per ASME Y14.5.

• Use of Solidworks PDM tool for Check-in, Check-out, change states etc. Creating Bill of material on PDM tool and its SAP integration and following specific process and policies.

• Follow iron management procedures for fixture design for testing. Fixture integrity tests validation and support.

• Create ECR (Engineering change request) in Solidworks PDM tool and receive ECR and manage project data.

• Material selection for different applications of valves and accessories. Value engineering in efficiency and pressure rating improvement.

• Work on solutions for complex technical problems that may include the development of products of well completion having few or no precedents.

• Actively manages and provides timely updates to engineering schedule, and engineering updates to the project and engineering management team.

• Prepares ECN (Engineering Change Notices), part reports, and engineering specifications, check layouts and ensures conformance to all policies and procedures related to engineering functions.

• Facilitate DFMEA and provide design solutions to correct non-conformances while taking into account safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

• Support Quality Notification dispositions codes issues as they arise.

• Provide expert technical support to Factory acceptance test (FAT) and System integration test (SIT) activities.

• Works with other engineering teams to ensure good communication of work load requirements and consistent approaches to policies and methodologies.

• Finds creative solutions to multi-faceted, complex problems.

• Assists engineering manager with any requested technical and engineering related tasks.

Requirements

• • Degreed Mechanical Engineer with at least 10-14-years of Engineering experience in the completions, valve products, oil and gas industry.

• • Demonstrated experience in supporting engineering for oil and gas engineering design projects constrained by safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.

• • Strong knowledge of engineering discipline (solid mechanics, strength of materials, high temperature and pressure designs) is required. Experience conducting design analysis - hoop stress, flexibility, buckling, burst, fatigue, etc.

• • Experience in reviewing engineering designs, documents, layouts, calculations and interpreting FEA analysis results.

• • Work experience must include experience with various ASME, API and DNV Codes and Standards as it relates to oil and gas industry.

• • Exposure to various manufacturing processes – Machining, forging, hot and cold extrusion, coating etc.

• • Ability to manage the engineering projects within specified schedule and budget. Demonstrated organization and project planning skills.

• • Accuracy, dependability, ability to manage schedule and prioritize work for self and others in team.

• • Ability to work independently and as a part of a technical team - a self-motivated, self-starter.

• • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with ability to effectively transfer subject matter expertise. Ability to coach and mentor others.

• WORK ENVIRONMENT: Spends majority of time in office. Some Travel (domestic & international) as necessary visiting Customer locations, plants. Must be willing and able to travel on short notice, if issues arise with design or any related issues.
