About the role
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Technical Writer/Work Instruction Specialist)
Location: Toronto, ON (M8V 3B6)
Duration: 12+ months contract
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Methods Manager, as part of a major program to build a maintenance center in Toronto, the incumbent will work within a multidisciplinary team in close collaboration with the production, industrial engineering, and health & safety teams.
This role aims to develop efficient work methods that ensure high quality in the execution of new equipment for the maintenance of our new trains.
We are looking to establish best work practices and standardize them across different production lines.
The incumbent will be called upon to intervene and support operations as well as the management team during upcoming changes.
Responsibilities

Develop work instructions for the implementation of our new equipment

Define work methods to improve quality and execution time of performed tasks

Participate in solving manufacturing issues in collaboration with suppliers, design engineers, and the production line

Complete technical and management files in collaboration with various stakeholders (production, engineering, quality, logistics...)

Research and propose technical and economic solutions to improve workshop performance

Ensure work methods are safe and comply with health and safety standards

Participate in mobilizing workshop employees
Requirements

College diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline

5 to 10 years of experience in an industrial environment

English (spoken and written)

French an asset

Experience in an industrial workshop, ideally in commissioning new machines/tools

Experience in a unionized environment

Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

Available for occasional travel

Available to work all shifts occasionally
