Network Engineering and Operations contractor

JOB DESCRIPTION: Engineering contractor to support the Asia Client Network

Planning, Implementation and Engineering team.

JOB TITLE: Network Engineering and Operations contractor

JOB LOCATION: Singapore

CONTRACT DURATION: 2 years

JOB DUTIES:

Reporting to the Singapore NPE country engineer, the engineering contractor will base in Singapore for a 24 month assignment assisting and carrying out all aspects of telecommunications network implementation to support Telecommunication Singapore and APAC data, transport and voice networks including the following duties and responsibilities:

· Project implementation

· Coordinating and meetings with Vendors, Contractors, Colocation providers or Telco

· Logistics – scheduling and receiving of delivery of equipment from various Data center/ POP sites

· Project Site survey, and equipment implementation and installation

· Equipment commissioning and network trunk testing

· Project handing over, closure and documentation

· Support for the Core Equipment Engineering teams on project implementation

· Maintenance support (MASTARS) events

· Network capacity utilization monitoring, review and reporting

· Inventory management

· Metro network design and optimization

· On-net Outside Plant Fibre planning

· Requests for Facilities/ Power requirement

· Record management (BGW) build for equipment and tie cables

· Secondary Engineering support role for Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and

South East Asian countries

· Installation and commissioning of SDH/WDM/OTN networks, including hot-cut and parallel-build for network migration.

· New turn up, testing and troubleshooting on WAN transport circuits (SDH, OTN, Ethernet etc.)

· Knowledge of industry best practices for rack and stack of equipment, cable and fiber-optic management and dressing.

· Able to rack mount equipment (<20Kg).

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

Two or more years of relevant telecommunications engineering or operations work experience

Willingness to travel as project needs demand (less than 10% of the time)

DESIRED SKILLS:

Work experience in Ciena or Fujitsu optical transport network equipment

Work experience in Juniper and Cisco Core routing equipment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Polytechnic Diploma in Telecommunications or Equivalent

REQUIRED SHIFT:

Ability to provide afterhours support for network maintenance Engineering activities as project demands dictate.
