About the role
Network L4 Overall Summary of the Role
The L4 technical lead for Networks will provide customer service excellence by possessing a demonstratable technical knowledge of the Network and Network Security environment to support project and run activities. This position will take ownership in guiding and managing the solutions used to connect, engage and extend the working capabilities of R&Co employees.
This role will work closely with R&Co tower leads and the wider Client company to propose solutions to challenges. This could be achieved by evaluating the current technology suite and provide options for improvement or enhancement by working within the current toolset and looking to improve collaboration, automation productivity tools.
They will propose solutions and enhancements aligned to their environment and act as the technical SME on projects including designing and documenting HLDs (High Level Design) and LLDs (Low Level Design). They will also work with the customer to develop their technology roadmaps, and propose continuous improvement opportunities and identify, log and manage the resolution of technical risk items within the technical tower.
1Technical Requirements
Network Data – Technologies & Knowledge
Excellent hands-on experience on the following technologies:
Routing protocols –OSPF, BGP
LAN Switching – IRF, Switch virtualization, Client Flexconnect networking, MC-LAG, VXLAN, Overlay networks, VLAN, VTP, STP, EtherChannel, CoS, QoS and other upcoming switching technologies
WLAN – Cisco Enterprise & Aruba wireless, Wireless design, site surveys, fine-tuning WLAN environment, troubleshoot; knowledge of different wireless technologies – Mobility Master, Secure tunnel mode, dot1x etc.
TCP/IP protocol suite, Quality of Service
DDI – Infoblox & other DDI platforms DNS, DHCP and IPAM. Shall have thorough understanding of DNS setup (internal and external), operations and troubleshooting. Design the IP address schema and configure and manage DHCP services.
Application protocols - HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL etc.
Network Security – Clearpass, 802.1x port based security including Cisco NAC
Local Traffic Manager and Global Traffic Manager (LTM, GTM) & ASM
Network Management – Cisco network management plaforms & Solarwinds
Routing protocols –OSPF, BGP (iBGP & eBGP), EIGRP, RIP,
Cisco Data Centre Networking Expert specifically working on Cisco Nexus 9k in a multi layered architecture supporting VWMare NSX-T, Fortinet physical and virtual platforms.
Velocloud SDWAN knowledge and experience desirable although SDWAN experience on one of the major vendor platforms is essential

2Non-technical Requirements
2.1Role Requirements & Expectations
Act as technical advisor to all key stakeholders operating as a leader in the field.
Consulting experience with customer/delivery to understand problem and recommend solutions.
Be the project Technical SME and engage with the Client and customer Operations and Project teams
Executing quick technical feasibility studies
Build strong relationships with the Customer, Project Teams and Client teams
Understand the customers current and future environment and be able to identify aligned robust solutions.
Clearly articulate and document the requirements, how the proposed solution meets the requirements, the operational impacts and considerations, and, the implementation and on-going financial impacts
Help build the technical roadmap and identify dependencies across other technologies and roadmaps.
Able to leverage current and future technologies supporting the business roadmap.
Accountable and responsible for designing and documenting the High Level Design and Low Level Designs for current environment and new initiatives.
Identify opportunities and create a catalogue/book of work for continuous improvement and efficiencies to:
Provide greater business resilience
Mitigate risk to the business.
Reduce business costs and drive efficiencies.
Enhance and improve operations
Propose solutions based on industry standards and customers roadmap
2.2Communication
Primary language is English, excellent spoken and written skills
Ability to understand and ensure understanding of technical and non-technical requirements via email and other remote communication tools.
Comfortable with leading troubleshooting discussions, able to take a lead and drive successful outcomes.
Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with global Senior Management debating and challenging designs, solutions and roadmaps
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills at all levels and able to communicate at a technical and non-technical level.
Strong presentation skills (written and verbal).
Strong attention to detail and quality management.
Experience in collaborating within Client and other suppliers forming part of a matrix team.
Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural, diverse environments.
2.3Design Capability requirements
Ability to design Data Centre and Corporate office Data and Voice Network infrastructures
Ability to design WAN & SDWAN solutions
Ability to design and implement Infrastructure network tools to monitor, manage and maintain a Global network
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Able to oversee implementation, working to schedules and project plans and manage budgets
Manage data and information
Understand and ideally have experience in network security with strong capabilities in setting standards
Coaching / mentoring team members
Demonstrate hands on abilities across all platforms with strong problem determination capabilities
Researching and staying current with all network, security and cloud technologies

MS Project – Desirable
MS Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel and Outlook) – Required.

2.5Qualifications
Cisco Expert (CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure / Data Centre / Service Provider) Preferred
Certified Network Professional (CCNP) acceptable
ITIL formal qualification (Master)
VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) not essential
Microsoft, Fortinet, Infoblox qualifications are desirable
